CPLP Boot Camp
What is the workshop about?
The CPLP™ Boot Camp provides an overview of the ASTD Certified Professional in Learning & Performance™ (CPLP) certification program and the 2004 ASTD Competency Model™ the credential is based on.
Discover how and why certification and the competency model are relevant to your work and to the workplace learning & performance industry as a whole.
An accelerated learning approach is used throughout the workshop to allow you to sample what it’s like to be a CPLP™ candidate preparing for both phases of the credentialing process – the CPLP™ Knowledge-based Exam and the CPLP™ Work Product submission.
Upon completion of this workshop, you will be able to:
- Communicate to others how ASTD is using the CPLP™ to lobby the U.S. Department of Labor to recognize workplace learning & performance as a profession.
- Describe how recognition as a member of a profession can raise your credibility in the workplace.
- Identify organizations that are using the CPLP™ for as frameworks for career paths and for continued professional growth and ongoing education.
- Articulate the history, development, and purpose of the CPLP™ certification program, including its foundation on the 2004 ASTD Competency Model™.
- Follow the criteria for both the CPLP™ Knowledge-based Exam and ™Work Product submission phases.
- Assess your readiness to enter the certification program, including eligibility requirements, costs & time commitments.
- Implement tips & tricks to be successful in both phases of the credentialing process.

Evanston Lunch Bunch
The next Evanston Lunch Bunch, an informal lunchtime gathering of Workplace Learning & Performance professionals, will take place on Monday, July 20 from noon to 1pm at Rotary International.

Topic: CPLP panel discussion. Are you curious about CPLP certification? Do you wonder what it entails? Would you like to “pick the brains” of Workplace Learning & Performance professionals who have attained CPLP certification? Then be sure to join us on July 20!
Our special panel guests will include three Workplace Learning & Performance professionals (including Trish Uhl, Director of Chapter Strategic Planning and facilitator of the upcoming CPLP Boot Camp) who have achieved the CPLP credential and one who recently passed the knowledge exam. They will share their experiences, insights, and tips, and answer your questions about the CPLP certification process and the value it adds.
Bring your own lunch or purchase something at Rotary’s Café International (lower level). There is also a Subway and a Potbelly Sandwich shop across the street.
Room Location: the location is Room 12B. Take the elevator to floor 12, go towards the door that says “International Meetings” and follow the signs to room 12B.
Transportation/Parking: Rotary is accessible by the CTA Purple line and Metra rail (Davis Street stops). There is a large hourly parking structure at the intersection of Davis and Benson. Some street parking may be available. Rotary has a parking structure on Grove Avenue, but is typically filled early in the day by employees.
